Front Range Biosciences Raises $1.5 Million, Debuts Tissue Culture Propagation
Agricultural biotechnology company to bring advanced tools for high value crop cultivators
LAFAYETTE, Colorado – February 21, 2017 – Front Range Biosciences (FRB), the agricultural biotechnology company for high value crops, announced today that it raised $1.5 million in funding.
Front Range Biosciences is providing industrial scale tissue culture propagation and advanced breeding for high value crops. Our propagation technology provides reliable, disease free clones and improves clone production efficiency by taking advantage of the small foot print used for tissue culture propagation.
CEO and Founder Dr. Jon Vaught
Seed round investors include Intuitive Private Equity, Salveo Capital, Sand Hill Angels, Harvard Business School Angel Alumni of New York, and New York Angels.
“Investor demand was greater than expected and we oversubscribed the round, validating our unique value proposition,” said COO & Founder Nick Hofmeister. Vaught continued, “We help cultivators by reducing their risk of disease and mold contamination recalls, giving them peace of mind with healthy, vigorous plants, minimizing their reliance on pesticides.”
In Front Range Biosciences, Sand Hill Angels saw a talented and driven founding team bringing innovative agricultural technology to improve production of high value crops. The recent growth in markets for medicinal plants and nutraceuticals make this an attractive investment.

“We are also using genomics to map plant traits and advanced marker assisted breeding to create new varietals with improved commercial value,” said CSO & Founder Dr. Christopher Zalewski.
FRB brings a highly-experienced team to tackle the modernization of plant genetics in the high value crop industry. The advances in yield, disease resistance, and agronomic profile from FRB science will be vital in powering the scalability of this market for years to come.
The company will use its current funding to further build out its team and expand its flagship product, tissue culture, and to continue work on its breeding platform.
