We have written before about the tremendous challenges cannabis companies face when it comes to advertising and how some in the industry will turn to charitable contributions as a work-around. This doesn’t always work, as two companies ran into issues in Boulder recently. After a group in Eugene, Oregon, Women Leaders in Cannabis, headed by Lindsey Jacobsen, faced rejection by two charities as well as the Oregon Department of Human Services, it found a grateful beneficiary in Eugene as well, KindTree – Autism Rocks!
There is tremendous interest in this community with respect to cannabis, with biotech company GW Pharmaceuticals now exploring clinical trials targeting autism spectrum disorder in 2016. This is exciting, as it could corroborate substantial anecdotal evidence that high-CBD cannabis can help with the symptoms. As far as this charitable action, the recipient didn’t necessarily see the cannabis connection. Rather, it appreciated the generosity in the spirit of the season. In any event, this sounds like everyone wins.
