Mike West is an advocate, researcher, and entrepreneur in the world of cannabis and hemp. Currently he serves as the director of manufacturing at Cresco Labs, a cannabis production and processing company in Illinois that holds three of the states 21 cannabis licenses. Mike recently joined Ganjapreneur’s Shango Los for a discussion about hemp-derived CBD, which has appeared on the market in many forms and has been promoted by legitimate cannabis production companies as well as spammy, affiliate-driven marketing firms. In particular, hemp-derived CBD has been promoted as a means for delivering some of the benefits of medical cannabis to patients in states and regions where the plant is illegal. In this interview, Mike talks about the science, policy, and business of hemp-derived CBD, and shares his experience on a variety of other subjects as well.
