David Brown of Lift Cannabis interviewed Bruce Linton, CEO of Canopy Growth. The 25-minute interview covered a variety of topics, including development of the Tweed brand, the recent deal with Snoop Dogg, Linton’s view that 2017 will see the beginning of legal adult-use cannabis distribution, how MMPR will evolve in the face of the recent Allard decision, how distribution is likely to play out for both medicinal and adult-use, how Bedrocan fits into the overall organization, the role of dispensaries, progress at the various facilities moving towards full production, and future regulatory models regarding distribution.
One of the more interesting points made (at 20:00 ) is that Linton believes his company could supply 50K kilograms of dried flower were Canada to legalize cannabis for adult-use. He also discussed potential M&A, which would be geared towards geographic diversity or technology acquisitions, as well as potential international expansion. Linton expects to see some of the current licensed producers merging, even if they don’t like each other, in order to become more competitive, and he expects to see improvements to the current rules for extracts.
