Canada Risks Cannabis Legalization Being DOA as Illegal Dispensaries Proliferate

Ronan Levy

Ronan Levy, who co-founded and serves as a Director and General Counsel for Canadian Cannabis Clinics (owned by CanvasRx Holdings), shared an editorial expressing his concerns that the proliferation of illegal dispensaries could effectively doom legalization as the black market expands its reach.  He argues that the current MMPR license holders entitled to produce medical cannabis for authorized patients are struggling as the government turns its back on enforcing the law.

If our leaders don’t seem to care about enforcing the law and protecting investments made by legal business operators, why should we?

Levy points to regulated cannabis being cleaner, safer and cheaper than the product in dispensaries, yet the local authorities in Vancouver and Toronto aren’t interested in enforcing the laws.
