Entrepreneurs are harnessing two big trends: Cannabis legalization and the sharing economy. Similar to Airbnb, travelTHC and Bud and Breakfast are helping connect homeowners with travelers looking to enjoy cannabis while visiting states where it is legal. Both of these services have a big base in Colorado, but travelTHC is adding Oregon and Alaska and already includes Washington. Bud and Breakfast, which has almost 300 listings, offers several foreign destinations, including Jamaica.
CNET Magazine’s article includes the perspectives of several homeowners who rent out their homes. Most hotels in Colorado prohibit the use of cannabis, which can make it difficult for tourists to consume. Many of the homes restrict consumption to vaporization rather than smoking, at least indoors.
