After surging to end the year, Illinois adult-use cannabis sales have slowed in 2023, falling 11.1% sequentially in January and then 5.8% in February. Sales of $120.5 million were up 5.7% from a year ago.
After increasing 106% in 2021 and then 13% in 2022, year-to-date adult-use sales are up 7.4% in the first two months to $248.4 million.
During February, sales to non-residents decreased from 28.8% in December and 28.2% in January to 25.5%, the lowest since May 2020.
The state separately releases sales from its medical program, and the release for January was published earlier today. Sales fell 12.1% sequentially to $27.6 million, which was down 7% from a year ago.
For January, combined adult-use and medical sales of $155.6 million were down 11.3% sequentially and rose 5.9% from a year ago.
