Illinois released its cannabis sales data much later than it normally does. Illinois adult-use cannabis sales in April were down 2.9% sequentially to a $144.5 million, which was about the same on a per-day basis as the longer March. The gain was 9.5% from a year ago:
After increasing 106% in 2021, 13% in 2022 and then 5% in 2023, year-to-date adult-use sales are up 9.2% in 2024 to $662 million. During April, sales to non-residents were 22.8%:
The state separately releases sales from its medical program, and the release for April was published last week. Sales fell 3.0% sequentially to $25.1 million, which was down 10.6% from a year ago:
For April, combined adult-use and medical sales were $169.6 million, declining 3.0% sequentially and up 6.0% from a year ago:
Total sales of $1.96 billion in 2023 were up 3% from 2022. So far in 2024, sales have increased 6% from the start of 2023.
