Canopy Growth (TSX: CGC) (OTC: TWMJF) recently completed its breeding facility at Tweed and launched its first “DNA-Certified” strain. Merry Jane interviewed its President, Mark Zekulin, about the company’s efforts to differentiate its offerings from other producers in Canada and his outlook for legalization.
Tweed’s breeding facility, according to Zekulin, allows it to tailor its products to the needs of its customers. The company has partnered with DNA Genetics, which has gained a stellar reputation while working outside of the legal system previously. A year after initially meeting DNA and shortly after formalizing their relationship, the two companies developed a unique Lemon skunk strain.
Zekulin is uncertain on the timing of legalization, but he suggests that developing the right products for the medical market will allow Tweed to transition as the customer base broadens following legalization. The company is also working with Snoop Dogg to develop products for the recreational market.
