Brendan Kennedy, CEO of Seattle-based private equity firm Privateer Holdings, one of the fifteen “marijuana money managers” profiled at New Cannabis Ventures and a pioneer investor in the cannabis industry, spoke at the Web Summit in Ireland on Wednesday. The event, which has 21 separate summits, a thousand speakers and thirty-thousand attendees according to the organizers, was covered by the USA Today, which reported that Kennedy predicts legalization in the United States within the next two years, no matter which party wins the Presidency. Its consumer brand, Marley Natural, will launch before year-end according to Kennedy.
Kennedy recently addressed an audience of investors in Denver at the National Cannabis Summit. One of the key points he made during his presentation with Dooma Wendschuh, CEO of ebbu, is that the company’s investment from Founders Fund earlier this year signaled to other institutional investors that the cannabis investment opportunity is too great to pass by. Kennedy and Wendschuh will be addressing a group of family offices at the Cannabis Private Investment Summit in New York in December.
