While medicinal cannabis is federally legal in Canada, patients, until now, had to order from one of the licensed producers (LPs) and wait for it to arrive in the mail as directed by Health Canada rules, which require the LP to “use a shipping method that ensures the tracking and safekeeping of the package during transportation.” Today, two of the LPs, Aurora Cannabis and Bedrocan Canada, part of Canopy Growth, announced that they will now offer same-day delivery within certain geographies.
Aurora Cannabis issued a press release explaining its new policy, which, effective immediately, allows same-day delivery for orders placed before noon to residents of Calgary and surrounding areas. In June, the service will expand to Edmonton and surrounding areas. The company was required to develop customized software in order to integrate with its ERP software.
We are very proud to bring this innovative commitment to our customers, and by next month we will be able to offer same-day delivery to an area covering the majority of the population of Alberta.

In its press release, Canopy Growth announced that beginning May 26th, it will deliver orders to patients in Toronto by 8PM if they are placed before noon.
